Chic Profiles: Meet the blonde beauty Lydia Kirwood. Originally from the East Coast of Australia Lydia catches up with Chic on how she initially fell into modeling and her three key wardrobe items to live by.
1. How did you firstly get scouted?
I pretty much just had an embarrassing Tumblr account and put a few selfies on Instagram. Photographers and brands then started contacting me directly after a while and it all continued to built from there.
2. One thing people don’t generally know about you?
I really love building, using natural materials and learning about crazy alternative structures. It’s so interesting!
3. The all time favourite shoot you have done?
I really like the shoot I did with Claudia Smith recently. She shot it on film in Mullumbimby on my friend’s property right near my grandma’s farm. We styled it together and I pretty much just got to run wild.
4. How have you found social media and modeling together to be? (Has it helped your career or help created your own person style etc )
Social media has definitely been helpful, it’s like an online portfolio for all the work you’re proud of, you can discover interesting people, network and make it unique to yourself. On the other hand – it’s much more fun if you don’t take it too seriously, there’s no way a multifaceted person can be summed up on a grid of photos, and it’s not three dimensional.
5. What are your three favourite wardrobe items you live by?
I’m very pro capsule wardrobe. Straight leg levis, black leather shoes, and my lucky patchwork jacket.

Meet the Argentinian, Italian beauty Sabrina Ioffreda.
Where are you from?
I’m from Buenos Aires Argentina but in this moment I’m calling home New York City.
Where were you discovered?
I started as a model because I was discovered at the streets walking my dog, my dog puffer and after that day everything started it has been amazing. I have had the opportunity to work with so many amazing designers, photographers and stylists.
I had the opportunity to work with Steven Meisel, I shot a Prada campaign a Tom Ford campaign where the stylist was Carine Roitfeld and the photographer was Tom Ford. I am really happy and really proud about everything that has happened.
What do you love about being in Australia?
I’m staying in Bondi Beach and I have to say I love this area. I love everything about it not just the beach but of course it is amazing. But I love the atmosphere. I love all the little cafes, I love the people how they are really sporty and they walk around and they have dogs. It’s really amazing, I love just waking up and if I don’t have to work go for a pilates class and then go for a coffee watching the beach and read my book. It’s really happy and really relaxing to be around this area.
Your favourite spot?
There’s a cafe call La Parida and I think it’s my favourite spot here. I go there everyday to grab my cappuccino and read my book. I think it’s my spot here at Bondi beach and I really enjoy.
Other favourite shoots you have shot for?
I also shot an editorial for Harpers Bazaar which was shot in Paris and the stylist was also Carine and the photographer was Karl Lagerfeld. I have to say that, that shoot was really nice and what I love about it was that when I told Karl that I was Argentinian he said that every Argentinean girl he met was really nice and that he loves Buenos Aires.
A Chic Exclusive
How long have you been modelling for?
I’ve been modelling in Sydney back and forth for five months and have been signed to Chic for about a year and a half. Though I’ve been signed to my mother agency in New Zealand for five years.
Work has been amazing! I’ve been coming up to Sydney from New Zealand every couple of months and spending sometime overseas also. It’s been super busy and I’ve gotten the opportunity to work with so many awesome fashion brands.
Where have you been travelling to over the last couple of months?
In the past couple of months I’ve been to Paris, London and Bali. I absolutely loved all of those places but my favourite hands down has to be Paris.
I was only there for two weeks as I was flown over to do a job during Fashion Week, but luckily I had some down time to explore the incredible city as well, as I meet with agencies over there. One of my friends I had met the year before, in Tokyo, was also there so it was really nice to have someone to hang out with during my stay. I only had about two days free so I managed to get to the Louvre, but sadly not the Eiffel Tower. That’s definitely on the top my list when I go back.
While I was there, the designer I was working with was nominated for an award called LVMH prize. So I had the opportunity to go with her and showcase her collection to some of fashions biggest names. I actually got to meet Karl Lagerfeld and talk to Anna Wintour, it was an amazing night, but I was still quite jet lagged.
After Paris I visited London for a week to meet with some agencies. I ended up signing with one and later going back to work there for about a month. I had a great time while I was in London. One of my good friends from my mother agency was living there at the time so it was nice to have a familiar face in a completely unfamiliar city and also have someone that lives there to show me around. One of my favourite places she took me to was definitely the Camden Markets. There are markets all over London but these are my favourite because the food there is incredible! You can get so many different things there. My favourite food had to be the vegan pulled jackfruit burrito, it doesn’t sound too appetizing but honestly it’s delicious. Another great place to go for food was Brick Lane, luckily I lived super close, so I went there all the time. If you ever visit London those are definitely the two places I recommend you go to.
After London I got to spend some time at home, which was nice. It’s so hard being away from my family, my boyfriend and my friends for so long. I was in New Zealand for about three weeks until I flew to Bali for a swimwear job. The timing was perfect seeing as it’s the middle of winter in NZ and its absolutely freezing.
I honestly didn’t expect to love Bali so much! It’s such a gorgeous place, the food is so delicious and the weather is perfect. It was a great opportunity to be able to work over there and also to be shown around by the owner of the swimwear brand who is a local. After only being there for a week I’ve decided i’m definitely going to move there at some point.
What the one thing you can’t live without?
One thing that I cannot live without is definitely my phone. I know it’s probably the most expected answer to give but it’s true! I rely on my phone so much. Whether it’s to help me navigate my way through all the unfamiliar areas, when I’m being sent to various jobs and castings, or by helping me keep in contact with my family and friends back home.
